Workers of around 1,000 companies in Gurgaon-Bawal industrial belt decided to support the nationwide strike starting from Wednesday and informed the management to stop production on Thursday.
The production in leading auto plants, including Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Hero Motocorp, Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd, Rico Auto, Sunbeam and Sona stearing, will come to a standstill as around 1.5 lakh workers are expected to go on the strike.
The general secretary of Maruti Udyog Kamgar Union, Kuldeep Jhangu, said around 10,000 workers of Gurgaon and Maneser plant will be taking part in the strike, therefore, no production will take place on Thursday. “We have given a notice to management of both Gurgaon and Maneser plants of MSIL to shut down operations on Thursday and we have been told by the officials that they have granted official leave on Thursday,” said Jhangu.
Meanwhile, the management of MSIL and Hero Motocorp has decided to declare official leave on Thursday to avoid any untoward incident. The workers of both Gurgaon and Dharuheda plant of Hero Motocorps have decided to go on strike as well. The district administration has imposed Section 144 in the district and no violent incident was reported.
